Students and teachers from five Chiang Mai high schools learned how to use new English teaching materials June 23-24 at Chiang Mai University’s American Corner. The “English Language Camp for Teachers and Teens” was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and the American Corner, with support from the U.S. Consulate General.

The Saturday session focused on training teachers from Prince’s Royal College, Yupparaj Wittayalai, Chiang Mai University Demonstration School, Wathanothai Payap, and Navamindarajudis Phayap. Approximately 50 students from these schools joined their teachers and trainers on Sunday for an English scavenger hunt and other language learning activities, including searching on the internet in English and using “authentic materials” such as maps and magazines from real life rather than materials designed for the classroom.

Training during the two-day session was provided by English Language Fellow William Heaton and U.S.Embassy Information Resource Center Assistant Baralee Sukontarangsi with help from Morgan Springer of Ace!Academy.
